Seaweed – Farm to Table

Seaweed as a building material might sound a little funky but many species of algae were historically used in natural constructions around the world. Kathryn Larsen's architecture thesis [Seaweed] Farm to Table explores the materiality of Dutch algae, seagrass and shells in construction- to propose a floating housing project for the Netherlands. For a whole month our Education Room houses an interesting exhibition showing how this research has led to exquisite drawings, natural building materials and dyes and much more.
