Geothermal DHC Summer School 2022 Design your own renewable district heating and cooling system
11 July 2022 09:00 till 15 July 2022 17:00 - By: Webredactie | Add to my calendar
Are you interested in sustainable heating and cooling? Are you starting out in your career, and would like to know more about heating and cooling with a focus on heat storage? Then this summer school is for you.
When: 11th – 15th July 2022
Where: Delft, the Netherlands
The learning activities of this summer school are focused around a group assignment in which you will design a renewable heating/cooling system including heat storage components with fellow participants. These assignments are real cases from practice provided by industry partners. During the week you will be provided with background information on geothermal and heat storage and distribution technologies via short lectures by key experts.
There is a focus on how to store and reuse heat, due to the large fluctuations in heat supply and demand. Next to lectures and applying this knowledge in your assignment, there will be three excursions to operational geothermal systems (borehole heat exchangers, aquifer thermal energy storage, deep geothermal) and the Dutch wells and drilling research facility. You will also learn from your fellow participants via various session in which participants share their own work.
Delft University of Technology is one of the oldest universities of the Netherlands, and ranks among the best university in the world. Within Delft University of Technology the expertise is present to cover all aspects needed for the heat transition. You will be taught by key experts from TU Delft and other institutes.
Delft is an historical city with many typical Dutch canals and a lively atmosphere. The social activity programme ensures you will fully experience this.
Travel to Delft is easy; trains from around Europe arrive in Amsterdam or Rotterdam with a short train transfer to Delft, planes arrive in Amsterdam Schiphol, with again a short train transfer to Delft.
COST Action CA18219 Geothermal-DHC
The EU COST Association funds scientific networks organised in “Actions”. The Action Geothermal-DHC addresses the integration of geothermal energy in multivalent, multi-temperature heating and cooling networks covering the full spectrum of local, low temperature networks in neighbourhoods towards conventional district heating systems. Geothermal-DHC offers lots of opportunities for young researchers to create networks and initiate scientific cooperation across Europe. For more information visit www.geothermal-dhc.eu.
What is in for you?
Geothermal-DHC offers scholarships to attend the Delft summer school. Applications are now open! The deadline is the 20th May.
