A workshop (12:30-14h) and performance reception (17-18h) as part of the Sonnets for Science portion of the Re:Re:interpretation program.

Artist Anna Weilhartner and bookbinder Marcel Janssen will facilitate hands-on activities and demonstrate bookmaking techniques. The workshop is aimed to start a critical reflection on the book format and gives an opportunity to create small books. Participants will be introduced to Anna Weilhartner’s artistic practice, different papers, tools and techniques.

Participants are encouraged to bring their favourite physical books to show and/or A4 or A3 papers with text and/or images to create pamphlets and small books.

This workshop can be taken as a follow up or independent from the Sonnets for Science writing workshop. During her visit, Anna will be creating an art book from the Sonnets for Science series, and this book will be exhibited in the library at a future date.

The Workshop will consist of:
– short introduction to artist books and sharing of favourite books
– demonstration on book binding techniques
– bookmaking activity and tour of book binding workshop at TU Delft library
– reflection on books and bookmaking with opportunity to share work that evening

The performance reception (17-18h) will be with the book artist and Science for Sonnets authors, Bauke Steenhuisen and Jeroen Manders, who will give a collaborative performance. Contributors from the three workshops will also be invited to read their scientific-inspired poetry and show off their books. Drinks and snacks provided. Please register in addition to the workshop (link forthcoming).
