IEPG News - 2018 (14)

  • IEPG is running successfully the first workshop titled as “Introduction to Real Time Digital Simulation and Application in Sustainable Energy Systems”. It takes places between 20-24 August 2018. In this edition, the MSc students of Electrical Engineering of EEMCS acquire skills for advanced modelling and simulation of power systems dominated by power electronic interfaced devices as well as the execution of hardware-in-the-loop tests.

  • Peter Palensky announced as the new editor in chief of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine for 2019-2021. Read about it here.

  • IEPG is a part of the DeSIRE project that received 4TU funding. Read about it here.

  • José Rueda organized the event “Symposium on Stability Assessment and Intelligent Control for Sustainable Electrical Power Systems”. Among the speakers were:

Prof. John Schmitz (Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science, TU Delft),

Prof. Peter Palensky (Head of Section Intelligent Electrical Power Grids, EEMCS, TU Delft),

    Dr. F. Gonzalez-Longatt (Loughborough University),

Dr. Evelyn Heylen (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven),

Dr. Florin Capitanescu (Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology),

Dr. Petros Aristidou (University of Leeds),

Dr. Gilbert Bergna-Díaz (SINTEF Energy Research),

Vinay Sewdien MSc (TenneT TSO BV),

    Prof. István Erlich, (Universität Duisburg-Essen),

    Dr. Johannes Ruess (DIgSILENT GmbH).

The presentations overviewed and discussed recent developments in modelling, simulation, assessment methods, and design of intelligent controls for systems with massive penetration of power electronic interfaced devices in generation, demand, and transmission. You can find more information about the content of this symposium here.

  • José Rueda Torres of IEPG not only finished his tenure track way ahead of time, he is now also promoted to Associate Professor. Congratulations!
