Research interests
The current main research interests of the Paul group are towards exploring the synthetic potential of Nature's catalysts. Research focus include designing nicotinamide coenzyme biomimetics (NCBs) for oxidoreductases, and an emphasis on the development of non-natural enzymatic reactions for applications in organic chemistry.
Research projects include:
- Investigating light-driven sustainable biocatalysis H2020-MSCA-ITN-EJD PhotoBioCat
- Engineering biomimetic cofactors (nicotinamide, flavin and SAM)
- Exploring the synthetic potential of flavoprotein reductases and monooxygenases
- Developing enzymatic cascades
- Enzyme discovery for reductases within the Zero Emission Biotechnology Programme
