NGOs & Biofuels

The role of NGOs in developing a bioeconomy society

This dual degree PhDproject with Campinas University in Brazil focusses on the role of (international) NGOs in developing a sustainable bioeconomy. Are NGOs involved in the implementation paths of biofuel production? Can they have a role in developing positive scenarios for implementation of biofuel production? What would be the design of such engagement for positive synergies? With this approach, the research aims to contribute to the BE-Basic project on mapping societal pre-conditions for a successful transition, to biorenewables in chemistry and energy, help on the identification of the nontechnological risks and opportunities for implementing the BBE, with sustainability as a leading key principle, and building concrete recommendations of key “must-have” for a successful transition to the BBE.
