ORGANIC & SOFT MATTER CHEMISTRY & ENGINEERING
Our research is concerned with the design, synthesis, characterization and application of new molecular materials. We have a special focus on using in situ chemical reactivity to control the assembly of dynamic materials and the stability of polymers, to make materials that can respond to changes in their environment by moving, or changing color, shape or rigidity, or materials that exist outside of chemical equilibrium and can thus carry out special functions.

The Eelkema Lab is part of the Soft Matter cluster at Delft University of Technology, the Department of Chemical Engineering, and the Delft Process Technology Institute.
November 2017: Rienk visits Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey and presents the group's work on catalysis.
November 2017: A new single molecule diode design is published in PCCP, together with the van der Zant Lab. (Open Access)
November 2017: Congratulations Michelle on winning the AkzoNobel Graduate Prize!
October 2017: Fanny's paper on signal activation of catalytic activity is published in Nature Communications. Well done Fanny!
October 2017: Michelle van der Helm wins the best MSc award of the entire Faculty of Applied Sciences!
