Board
GreenTU is led by a board of six student employees, newly selected each academic year. The GreenTU board falls under the responsibility of TU Delft's executive board, and works closely together with TU Delft's core sustainability people (such as sustainability coordinator Andy van den Dobbelsteen) and university services.
Below, this year's board members will introduce themselves and their function!
Every year the GreenTU board changes. Six students work for the Executive Board of the TU Delft, closely together with the Sustainability Coordinator (Andy van der Dobbelsteen) and Operational Support. Every year we work on portfolios that last year started and try out new ideas. Below everyone will introduce themselves and their function.
Puck | Chair
Hi! My name is Puck Wijnia, and this year I fulfil the role of Chairperson of the GreenTU Board ‘22. In 2017 I started a bachelor's degree in Nanobiology, to combine my love for physics, biology, chemistry, and mathematics.
Even though I loved to study in this interdisciplinary field, I felt like there was something missing. I quickly joined the board of Engineers4Refugees, the board of Students4Sustainability and I later became part of the GreenTeam of Applied Sciences to make my faculty more sustainable. I started to acknowledge my interest and love for fighting climate change increasingly, and this led me to choose to start the master Industrial Ecology in 2021.
The TU Delft has a massive influence on Climate Change, and together we can make positive impact. I want to bring you more eco-positivism and show you how we can tackle this issue by all working together. This year, my goal is to show you that you can be the change you want to see.
Quan | Secretary
Hi! I’m Quan, the secretary of this year’s GreenTU Board! After getting my Bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics, in which I missed a focus on pressing sustainability issues, I started the master Industrial Ecology in 2021. But beside studying and learning about sustainability issues and solutions, I think it’s also important to put theory into practice and take some action.
Last year, I joined GreenTU’s Research committee (its successor, the new Reporting committee, will open for sign-ups this week!) in which I helped research the current state of sustainability at our university. This year I have decided to take a step further and join the board – I hope my colleagues and I will help to make some real impact and help TU Delft along with its goal of being climate-neutral by the year 2030.
I find it easy to get overwhelmed by bad news and negativity regarding climate change, so (as a natural optimist) I’ll finish with one piece of advice: be happy! Real change is possible, and things are looking up!
Nikki | Operations Coordinator
Hi! I’m Nikki, the new Operations Coordinator for this year! After finishing my bachelor's at the IDE faculty, I decided to choose a study program that incorporates sustainability more. That’s why I’m currently studying the master's program Industrial Ecology next to working as GreenTU Board member.
As Operations Coordinator, my main tasks are initiating and executing projects to improve the overall sustainability of our campus. In addition, I provide support and advise the TU Delft in their sustainability decisions. My vision for this year is to change the campus into a living lab for innovation! There are so many significant initiatives from students and staff, and I hope I can help implement them on our campus. If you have any ideas or questions, don’t hesitate to contact me!
As TU Delft students, we're educated to become critical thinkers. Being part of GreenTU, I can put my knowledge into practice and develop sustainable solutions. By working together with other students, we can make the campus more circular, enhance biodiversity and create a carbon-neutral university!
Sophie | GreenTeams Coordinator
Hi everyone! My name is Sophie and I am this year's GreenTeams Coordinator. My affinity for sustainability started in high school and made me decide to study Chemical Engineering to broaden my knowledge.
After one year of my Masters, I was eager to put my obtained skills into practice in a new environment. That's why I fully dedicated last year to being the team manager of the Hydro Motion Team. This experience motivated me even more to contribute to the energy transition towards a sustainable future and inspired me to take up a new challenge: joining this GreenTU board!
This year I want to have a positive impact on the sustainability performance of the TU Delft by working together with all of the Green Teams and together WITH YOU. Together we can have a significant impact and I am thrilled to be part of this change; I hope you are too!
Noortje | Outreach Coordinator
Hi everybody! My name is Noortje and I just started my master in Strategic Product Design at Industrial Design Engineering. Next to my studies, I have been doing website maintenance for design related initiatives in Delft. I enjoyed that because it kept me updated on what was going around campus.
Last year, I was part of a fulltime board at YES!Delft Students. After organzing the CleanTech challenge there, I became more interested in learning more about sustainability. That's why I applied for GreenTU! I will fulfill the function of Outreach Coordinator. Meaning that I will probably be your first point of contact if you would like to collaborate with GreenTU or if you have any questions.
My task is to be the sustainability advisor for organizations on and off campus. For example, guidance in the process of applying for the GreenTU subsidy. This subsidy supports student organizations in the financial challenge of making activities more sustainable. Besides advising, I will also organize the Sustainability Label. This label is meant for student organizations who strive for a more sustainable environment. Feel free to send me an email if you have any questions!
Sven | Communications & Events Coordinator
Hey! This academic year I’m GreenTU’s Communications & Events Coordinator. Let me start by introducing myself, my name is Sven. I’m a third years’ Bachelor student at Industrial Design Engineering.
I’ve noticed that the way we use our world is wrong. It is not sustainable. In the past couple of years I have tried to change my life for the better and become more sustainable myself. Now I want to step up and try to inspire others to do the same. Especially us, a generation of technical students in Delft, can and should take their part in the climate crisis, as we have the knowledge and skill to make positive difference.
This generation of green students starts with a sustainable campus and university that is fit for the future. I want to contribute to this, that is why I joined this years’ GreenTU board. I am looking forward to a year full of activities and a lot of sustainable (and mostly offline!) communication and events!
