Dr. Cila, N.

Nazli Cila is Assistant Professor of Human-Agent Partnerships at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. Her research focuses on collaborations with autonomous agents, such as smart products, robots, and AI systems, and their socio-technical implications. She integrates empirical work (i.e., experimentation, future modelling, and prototyping) with philosophical, ethical, and practical issues regarding trust, responsibility, control, and intelligence. In particular, her mission is to create foundational theory on Human-Agent Partnerships and reveal interaction patterns for meaningful, aesthetic, empowering collaborations with agents.

Academic Background

Nazli's academic background is in Industrial Design. She completed a PhD at the Design Aesthetics section of the Department of Human-Centered Design and a postdoc at the Connected Everyday Lab. She then worked at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, Digital Life Center research group as a researcher and a lecturer. Nazli regularly lectures on the above topics at (inter)national events, has presented her work at numerous interaction design conferences, and published in preeminent journals such as Design Studies, International Journal of Design, and Empirical Studies of the Arts.
