MSc. Dehli, S.R.
Silje Dehli is lecturer at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering.
Academic Background
Silje Dehli is a teacher at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. She is originally from Norway and did the three first years of the 5-year master in Industrial Design Engineering at the Institute for Product Design, NTNU, Trondheim. After a year as an exchange student at TU Delft, Silje decided to stay on for the master Integrated Product Design with the specialism Medisign. She did her graduation project at Erasmus MC on improving hip movement by means of product design for both patients and therapists.
Silje worked as a product developer within the medical field next to teaching at the TU Delft after her studies. Over the years she has become more and more enthusiastic and passionate about her teaching tasks and is now not only involved in the direct coaching of students but also in coordinating and setting up courses. At the moment Silje is responsible for the second year course Strategic Product Innovation and for the third year course Bachelor Final Project. Her teaching focuses on both the design process with her background as an Integrated Product designer and on strategic aspects of industrial design. To Silje it is important to encourage and motivate students to make their own choices based on thorough analysis. Next to the involvement in the IDE bachelor Silje supervises graduation students mainly on the overall design process combining product design and engineering with strategic design.
Furthermore, Silje is contributing to the improvement of the whole educational programme in the IDE Bachelor. She is also involved in work groups such as Decentralized Selection (an alternative selection procedure for admitting students to the IDE programme) and Didactics (project based advice on the didactic aspects of course design for the whole TU Delft).
