Jan Carel (JC) Diehl is as full professor in Design for Inclusive Sustainable System Interventions at the Sustainable Design Engineering Department of the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (TU Delft). With over 25 years of experience, he has been a frontrunner in the development of Design for Sustainability approaches, from initially Ecodesign, towards Sustainable Product Services Systems, and nowadays in the domain of Systemic Design.
His personal motive is to increase access to basic needs for all in a sustainable manner: Inclusive Sustainability. Specifically in the healthcare domain with the aim to make the TU Delft a unique center of excellence in Inclusive Sustainable Health Interventions.
He is the co-lead of the NWO INSPiRED project in which he develops, together with LUMC and ME, AI-powered diagnostic devices for the detection of poverty-related diseases in Sub-Saharan Africa.
