Prof. dr. Ridder, H. de

Huib de Ridder is professor of Information Ergonomics at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. His main research objective is understanding human behavior in context, with a focus on human perception and human information processing.

Academic Background

Before joining IDE in 1998, Huib de Ridder was affiliated as an experimental psychologist with the Vision Group of the Institute for Perception Research (IPO), Eindhoven, The Netherlands, where he gained his PhD in Technical Sciences in 1987 and his later research on image quality metrics was supported by a personal fellowship from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). May 2008, he co-founded the Delft Perceptual Intelligence Lab (π-Lab) to investigate (multi-) sensory fluency. Later on, the focus of his research on perceptual intelligence was expanded to include studies into persuasive experiences and future interactions for healthcare settings and mobility.
