Ir. Fromberg, E.H.E.

Emma Fromberg is a PhD Candidate at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. Her research is focused on the educational implications of different conceptualisations of a circular economy. She also holds an appointment as a Course Director at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.

Academic Background

After graduating in Strategic Product Design at Delft University of Technology, Emma continued working on Circular Design at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. In 2019, she was appointed as a Course Director for the Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma in Sustainable Business at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. In 2021, she was awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from the University of Cambridge, focusing on the integration of systems thinking in sustainability education course design for postgraduate students. The aim of her PhD research is to discover which conceptualisations of a circular economy exist and how education can support the development towards conceptualisations that put emphasis on systemic aspects of a circular economy.
