Sylvia Mooij is lecturer at the Product Innovation and Management department of the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. She received her Master’s degree in Industrial Design Engineering from the Delft University of Technology. Afterwards, she started a PhD-project and in 1998 she successfully defended her thesis entitled ‘Product Communication and Information’. Meanwhile she became an assistant professor in Marketing and in the years after her focus gradually moved to education. At the moment Sylvia is responsible for the second year Bachelor course Strategic Product Innovation and for the SPD Master course New Product Commercialisation. Her teaching focuses on the fuzzy front end of the development process and on the commercialisation end of the process. Next to her involvement in the courses, she supervises graduation students in different kinds of projects. Her main goal in all teaching activities is to guide the students in their learning process and to help them in making decisions based on a solid analysis.

Next to the teaching activities, Sylvia is Chair of the Board of Examiners. Focus point of this Board is to ensure the quality of examinations. They have set up a procedure to check the examinations of all courses on a regular basis.
Furthermore, Sylvia is the confidential advisor for undesirable behaviour for the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. Both employees and students can come to her for help, care services and advice if they experience undesirable behaviour from others.
