MSc. Pozo Arcos, B.


Beatriz is a PhD candidate on Circular Product Design. She belongs to the European research group Circ€Uit. A group of 15 PhD candidates multidisciplinary researching on the circular economy paradigm. Circ€Uit is funded by the program Horizon 2020 from the European Union. 

Her background is in mechanical engineering. She has worked on different concept design projects such as the design of various nozzles for an explosion suppression system which was her master thesis project; and the design of an easy-to-clean cooking stove for the James Dyson Award. Parallel to her main studies of mechanical engineering, she took part on short term courses on design and manufacturing of composite materials, building utilities design and graphic design. Additionally, she has had short term professional experiences on product development for a big sportswear company and on teaching at Beijing's University BFSU. 

Beatriz has, since early times, been passionate on thinking and developing ideas to make this world more sustainable. Her research is focused on facilitating repairing practices through design. Repairing products is an efficient solution to reduce the number of discarded products. However, knowing which component within the product has to be repaired is not always an easy task. Beatriz's investigation is therefore focused on how to design products so that faults are easy to find. The idea behind this line of investigation is that "If you know what is it that is broken, you can go ahead and fix it" but then, how can it be facilitated through a product's design?
