Factory in a day
We are currently exploring the Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) by prototyping fruit sorting and order picking applications. There are two imminent challenges 1) how to assume human awareness of the robotic systems (augmenting reality) and 2) how to plan the production workflow (factory planning, dealing with exceptions).
This research direction focuses on human-robot collaboration to make production in Europe more competitive.
Our hypothesis is that a combination of state-of-the-art robot and augmented reality technologies can establish a flexible workforce solution – collaborating robots and humans - that can be deployed on short-term notice. In the accepted FP7 project entitled “Factory in one day”, IDE is responsible for adding “the Human Touch” and to ensure agile human-robot collaboration.
