Self Assembly Furniture

What if self-assembly furniture knows how it should be assembled and actively helps people to assemble it? As everyday products are becoming interconnected products with computing power, multiple objects can form one entity that acts in an organised way.

How can self-assembly furniture be conceived as such a system and how will people interact with them? Cyberphysical systems can connect physical and virtual realities by embedding physical objects with information and communication technologies: products become interconnected objects with computing power that can process and produce data. Cyberphysical systems engender a new interaction paradigm where human action has direct local physical consequences as well as producing digital data in a network. A design assignment in the course Integrated Technology Design enabled us to gain some insights about how to tackle this new design space as well as exploring what the interaction with these systems could be like.
