Emotion aware car seat
An experiment was done to see whether emotions could be recorded in a car seat. Participants experienced various types of music, gaming or watching outside the window. Effects were measured by questionnaires, heart rate and pressure distribution.
Goals of the project
This study explores whether external stimuli like various forms of music and gaming/watching outside the window have an effect on comfort experience, experienced emotions, heart rate and pressure distribution in the seat. A BMW car seat was used to test the above mentioned relationships. Data was collected through a questionnaire, heart rate equipment, a pressure mat and analyzed separately for each condition. Results of the study show that there is an emotion influence of the activity and music. Furthermore, the results of the study indicated that comfort is related to valance factors, independent of arousal levels. Physiological measurements showed that only activity has a significant effect on heart rate, while a trend is seen that music influenced the pressure distribution.
