Biography

Nancy is Associate Professor at TU Delft, Industrial Design Engineering (Design for Sustainability and Product Innovation Management). She was awarded the TU Delft Technology Fellowship to pursue her research in the areas of sustainable business models, and design and innovation for a circular economy. 

Nancy also holds positions as a Senior Research Associate at the University of Cambridge and Fellow at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). Research topics include: sustainable business models, systems change and closing the idea-action gap in sustainability. As part of her fellowship role at CISL, Nancy acts as a tutor, supervisor and speaker on executive programmes in sustainability leadership. 

In 2013 Nancy was a visiting fellow at Yale University, School of Forestry and Environmental Studies (Fall 2013), where she was lecturing on sustainable business models and related topics. She also spent two months in the Bay Area in California to investigate how sustainable businesses can achieve scale. She conducted workshops for the Yale Sabin Prize and Thorne Prize for Social Innovation in Health to encourage sustainable entrepreneurship at Yale University. 

Nancy completed her PhD with the Low Carbon Materials Processing Group at the University of Cambridge Engineering Department funded by Unilever. She investigated how consumer goods manufacturers can reduce their product life cycle carbon footprint. She developed and tested tools to help expand and evaluate corporate portfolios of eco-innovative ideas, and developed strategies for future action.

Previously, she worked as a research assistant on the project: 'Well Dressed?'. The report proposed future opportunities to improve the sustainability of the textiles and clothing industry.

In the past, Nancy worked for a range of companies including DHL, Accenture and ING and always demonstrated a great interest in how sustainability may be embedded in business practices.
