Information about borrowing
Part of our collection can be borrowed. If you want to borrow items, you need to be a member of the library. TU Delft employees and students are a member by default. You van login with your NetID and borrow books with your campus card. If you are not a TU Delft employee or student, you will have to apply for a library card.
How does it work?
-
You can find the location of books that can be borrowed via the Books and journal articles search box on the homepage. The search result indicates where you can find it (at which location and the place number).
-
Physical book
A physical book you can check out via the self-service station in the Central Hall. As a TU employee / student you do that with your campus card. If you are not a TU employee / student with your Library card. Ask for help at the information desk if you need assistance. It is possible that your search result in our catalogue (via the search box on our homepage) is located in our Treasury. You can regonise that by the prefix 'TR' in the location code. To examine these Treasury materials, please send an email to library@tudelft.nl to make an appointment.
E-book
If you need an e-book, it depends on the agreements made with the publisher whether you can view it or also download it (partially). To access the e-book you have to be connected to the TU Delft network. (More information about VPN and Library Access)Examples of how to retrieve books & e-books: Tulib resources

It is possible that the book you have requested is on loan. When you log in with your NetID or with your onegini (non-TU visitors) you can make a reservation. The borrower can no longer extend the loan.
As soon as the book is returned to the Library, we will email you that it is available for you to collect at the information desk. You then still need to check out the book at the self-service station in the Central Hall. We keep the requested books at the desk for you for five days.
-
It is possible that the title you have found in the catalogue is located in our depot. This is indicated in the search result as ‘Closed stacks’. By logging in and clicking on ‘Place hold’, you can request the book/journal.
Requested books and journals are processed three times a day, at the following times;
-
08:30 (including requests from the previous day after 2 p.m)
-
11:00
-

So check carefully what time you submit your request. After the time that applies to your request, you can pick up this item at the outer ring of the information-desk. If you make a request outside of the mentioned time slots and office hours you can collect the book the following day. The book(s) can be lend by yourself at the self-service station. Please note, journals are only available for inspection and can be collected at the information-desk.
