Library card

TU Delft students

  • Nothing, you can automatically borrow items. You can log in with your NetID and borrow books with your campus card. 
  • There are no fees for borrowing. 

TU employees

  • borrow from the physical collection with your campus card 
  • view the digital collection with your NetID (access from home available) 
  • request articles and books from other libraries:
  • request a scan from the collection 
    • Copy or scan (free) 
    • Make a scan of a requested book or journal yourself 
  • access wifi via Eduroam, the network of the TU Delft

Member of staff or student from a different Dutch university or Higher Education institution

 

 

  • apply for a library card online 
  • you will need a current Dutch residential address 
  • you will need a valid student or employee card and use your institutional email address 
  • you will be notified automatically when you can pick up your library card 
  • There are no fees for borrowing 
  • The membership card is valid for 1 year after the date of registration 
  • You can extend the card at the TU Delft Library information desk  

TU Delft Alumnus / TU Delft retiree

  • apply for a library card online
  • you need a current Dutch residential address 
  • you need valid personal identification, such as a passport, driver's license or European identity card  
  • you will be notified automatically when you can pick up your card 

Tip for TU Delft Alumni: 'TU Delft for Life' is the TU Delft alumni programme. Register via tudelftforlife.nl 

  • There are no fees for borrowing 
  • The library card is valid for 3 years after the date of registration 
  • You can extend the card at the TU Delft Library information desk  

Non-profit organization

  • borrow from our physical collection
    • €13,- per book, shipping incl.
    • You need an eduID to apply for, renew and reserve at TU Delft Library. Go to the catalog, click on "Log in" in the top right corner. Choose "Request an eduID" and create an account. Don't forget to click on 'share data'.
  • borrow from our digital collection; only possible in the Library on the 'Search & Go' computers. Go for more info to the information desk.
  • request a scan from the TU Delft collection; € 6.50 per article or chapter (order copy or scan)

There are no costs for this membership.

Visitors (non TU/University/Higher Education connected)

  • apply for a library card online 
  • you need a current Dutch residential address 
  • you need valid personal identification, such as a passport, driver's license or European identity card  
  • you will be notified automatically when you can pick up your card 
  • The costs are €30,- per year
  • The library card is valid for 1 year after the date of registration 
  • You can extend the card at the TU Delft Library information desk 

Visitors (without a membership)

  • read books from the open book wall 
  • view the digital collection on the designated "Search and Go" computers. Please go to the information desk for this. Open Access publications are available to all. 
  • use wifi. You can make use of the open wifi network on campus: "Delft Free Wifi". This network is accessible to everyone on campus, no login or activation code is required. 
  • The Library is a public building, so you are welcome to visit. If you have questions, please contact the TU Delft Library information desk. 
  • There is no charge to visit. The Library is a public building, so you are welcome to visit. 

Note: Delft Free wifi is provided by an external party. TU Delft does not provide technical support. 

  • The Delft Free wifi is not secured.
  • Do not use open wifi to share business or privacy sensitive information or to use online banking 
  • If you have access to Eduroam, we strongly recommend using it 
  • Delft Free wifi is easy to hack into by others, possibly resulting in identity theft or data leaks 
  • Delft Free wifi Open wifi can be used safely with:  
    • VPN (Virtual Private Network, which is an encrypted connection) 
    • HTTPS secure websites and secure email
