Profile

Biography

Afshin Nazer was born on the 4th of September 1994 in Mashhad (Iran). In September 2018, he received his M.Sc degree in electronics engineering from the University of Tehran under the supervision of prof. Shahrokh Farhangi. His M.Sc thesis dealt with finding the optimal topology of photovoltaic inverters in terms of reliability, power quality, efficiency, and cost. In April 2019, he was named an elite student by Iran's National Elites Foundation, so he was allowed to continue his study as a research assistant for two years under the supervision of prof. Shahrokh Farhangi in the University of Tehran. During this period, he successfully designed and implemented a 5 kW solar array simulator featuring :
1- having a fast transient response (Less than 8 ms),
2- being able to be easily scaled up for simulating high power and 1500 V PV arrays,
3- needing low filter output size,
4- having high-frequency transformers for isolation
5- working in two modes (Constant Current & Constant Voltage).

In September 2021, he joined the Photovoltaic Materials and Devices group at the Delft University of Technology. As a Ph.D. student, he is working under Olindo Isabella and Patrizio Manganillos' supervision. His main goal is to design photovoltaic (PV) systems and Power converters to mitigate mismatch-related losses among PV modules and submodules.(Google Scholar)
