Prof.dr. C.P. (Cees) van Beers

Profile

Cees van Beers is a full professor of Innovation Economics and Innovation Management. He holds a doctorate in economics (Ph.D.) from the Free University Amsterdam, and – before becoming a full professor – he worked as an assistant professor at Leiden University and as an associate professor of innovation economics at TU Delft. Cees has also done research work.

Relevant research fields:

     1. Impact of environmental policies on trade flows and competitive positions           of firms (1992 – 2000);

  1. Impact of government policy failures on environmental damage and sustainable technology development (1998 – now)
  2. Determinants and management of (frugal) innovations and how they contribute to organizational performance, economic growth, and transformation (2013 – now).
Cees is one of the founders and co-directors of the International Centre for Frugal Innovation in Africa (ICFI), a joint initiative of Leiden University, Delft University of Technology, and Erasmus University Rotterdam (LDE)  aimed at investigating how frugal innovations can contribute to inclusive economic growth and transformation in developing countries.
