Expertise

At TU Delft, he works on developing advanced energy management algorithms and systems for multi-carrier Energy Systems that integrate different Distributed Energy Resources (DER). His main work is framed under the FLEXINET project, whose innovative cross energy coupling (electrical energy and heat) allows the development of neutral energy houses. The house can generate its own solar energy, store it in a battery, charge an electrical vehicle and heat the built environment. Dario's focus is on system identification, optimal control and energy management strategies. These advanced algorithms incorporate physical constraints, online forecasting and user behavior.

Expertise

His research focus is on Energy Management Systems (EMS) for buildings. The aim is to incorporate new factors into the real time operation, such as: battery aging or uncertainty from renewable generation, loads, users or market. His work stands in the intersection of optimal control, sequential decision making, operations research and power electronics.

Projects

Darío's works is framed under the FLEXINet project which aims to enable flexible distributed energy resources at the residential level.

Biography

Darío graduated in Argentina from the University of Buenos Aires School of Engineering in 2019 getting his Electrical Engineer degree. His Engineering Thesis was titled “Vehicle to Grid applications and their impact on Argentina’s Energy Scenarios and Long Term Costs”. As a graduate he still collaborates as a mentor to senior students on their graduation project in the Vectores initiative. During his studies he also worked as a Teaching Assistant in several courses such as Semiconductor Physics (2015-2018), Power Generation Plants (2018-present) and Solar Photovoltaic Technology (Fall 2020). He also held industry roles in ABB, GE and Hytech.
