Biography

Dr. Theo J.M. van der Voordt (1950) is associate professor in Corporate and Public Real Estate Management at the Department of Real Estate & Housing, Faculty of Architecture, Delft University of Technology. His former research included Post-Occupancy Evaluations of various buildings types such as housing with care for the elderly, health care centres, child care centrtes, educational facilities and hospitals, and more generic subjects such as Crime Prevention through Environmental Design and Design for all. His current research topics include new ways of working, performance measurement, workplace management, transformation as a means to cope with structurally vacant office buildings, successful health care real estate strategies, and adding value by real estate and connected facilities and services. His research aims to develop and test theories on adding value by real estate, experience and use of the built environment, and successful corporate or public real estate strategies, and to develop practical guidelines and tools to support data collection and decision making processes. The work on offices is conducted in close co-operation with the Center for People and Buildings in Delft, a knowledge centre that specializes in the relationship between people, working processes and the working environment (www.cfpb.nl). 

Theo van der Voordt retired in August 2015 but is still very active in his field of interest.
