Profile
I am an Associate Professor in the section of Applied Geophysics and Petrophysics at the Department of Geoscience and Engineering at Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands). My research interests are in imaging and characterization of the subsurface using wave-propagation phenomena โ mainly seismic methods but also ground-penetrating radar. Currently, I am (co-)supervising 6 PhD students (5 in the Netherlands, 1 internationally). Since 2004, my research has resulted in 80 published international papers, one book publication, and five book chapters. In 2010, I received the J. Clarence Karcher Award from the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG). In 2021, I received Outstanding Educator Award from SEG. I was awarded VENI in 2007 (08115) and VIDI in 2012 (864.11.009) personal grants by the Dutch Research Council NWO. From 2006 till 2017, I served as Associate Editor for the journal Geophysics and from 2017 to 2019 as Assistant Editor for the same journal. Currently, I am serving as Associate Editor for the Journal of Geophysics and Engineering. I am is a member of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and am a founding member of MUDNET.
