Biography

Dominic Stead holds a Masters degree (MSc) in Environmental Science from Imperial College London, a Masters degree (MA) in Town and Country Planning from the University of the West of England, Bristol and a doctorate (PhD) from University College London. Dominic's academic career started as a researcher in the School of Town and Country Planning at Bristol Polytechnic (now the University of the West of England, Bristol) in 1990. In 1996 he was appointed as a research fellow at the Bartlett School of Planning, University College London. He moved to Delft University of Technology in 2001 after being awarded a prestigious Marie Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. His research is highly cited. His current Scopus h-index is 17 and Google-scholar h-index is 27. Dominic has highly cited publications in Transport Policy (top 20), Planning Practice and Research (top 20) and Planning Theory and Practice (top 5).

Expertise

His research focuses on the governance of spatial planning and transport policy. Dominic has a substantial amount of experience of pan-European comparative research on spatial policy, including various international research projects funded by ESPON, INTERREG and EU Framework Programmes. Dominic has also acted as special advisor to the UNECE/WHO-Europe Transport, Health and Environment Pan-European Programme and expert reviewer for the EU’s CIVITAS Programme supporting sustainable, energy efficient urban transport.
