Profiel

Dr Mostert studied law and public administration at Leiden University. He is currently lecturer at the Delft University of Technology,  Faculty Civil Engineering and Geosciences; coordinator of the Water Management track; and vice-chairman of the Board of Examiners Civil Engineering. He is also involved in the new Master programme Environmental Engineering.  His expertise includes water law and ethics, social learning and collaboration processes.

Research

A major challenge in water management is to determine the objectives and cope with conflicting interests. Over the years technical and institutional solutions have been developed for this challenge, but new issues, such as climate change, require new solutions. In his research Dr Mostert focuses on innovation processes, long-term institutional adaptation, and the values that underpin these. His research is interdisciplinary in nature and combines law with social sciences and engineering. Specific topics include international cooperation, the science-policy interface, European water management an the Dutch water boards.
