H.F. (Hugo) Mourão Bento MSc

Profile

Biography

Hugo Bento was born in Lisbon, Portugal, where he completed his BSc degree in Aerospace engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico. He pursued his MSc in Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology, following the Flight Performance and Propulsion track. He had the opportunity to work on the preliminary design of trainer aircraft during his 6 months internship at Blackshape SpA, in Monopoli, Italy. During his Masters he contributed towards research in ducted propeller aerodynamics, with a numerical approach (RANS simulations). During free-time, he can be found climbing, playing tennis, and travelling.
He is currently a PhD researcher at the Wind Energy section of the Aerospace faculty, in Delft. The research focuses on the application of wall liners to closed wind tunnel test sections, with applications to wind turbine blade acoustic measurements. He uses both experimental and numerical  (Lattice-Boltzmann) methods, in order to find the best solutions for the Towards High-Reynolds Airfoil self-noise MEasurementS (THAMES) project. The project is funded by NWO and has the collaboration of NLR, Siemens Gamesa, Dassault Systèmes and Deutsche WindGuard.
