Biography

Jan joined the DVU lab in 2022 (TU Delft) as a PhD student working on the development of an evolving, probabilistic physics-informed machine learning model for damage identification and reliability estimation of quay walls and bridges. This work is part of the project LiveQuay: live insights for Bridges and Quay walls (NWA.1431.20.002).
He obtained an integrated master’s degree in civil engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 2018, and joint MSc. degrees in offshore and dredging engineering from TU Delft (Cum Laude) and wind energy technology from NTNU in 2021. He completed his MSc. thesis on the subject of Bayesian system identification for structures at TU Delft under the supervision of Dr. Alice Cicirello in collaboration with TNO, where he interned during the final year of his studies. Prior to starting his PhD he worked at TNO as a junior scientist in structural reliability.
