Profile

Biography

I am an assistant professor at the faculty of Aerospace Engineering. After obtaining my PhD in optimum lay-up design of variable stiffness composite structures, I have held R&D positions in industry which have introduced me to the subjects of hydrogen storage and filament winding, before returning to the Aerospace Structures and Computational Mechanics group at the faculty of Aerospace Engineering.

I research the efficient and certifiable design of composite pressure vessels for hydrogen storage in aviation. Next to that I strive to increase the range of application of variable stiffness composite structures by creating design methodologies that allow for low-cost manufacturing and better certifiable designs. A good example of this are Straight-Fibre Variable Stiffness laminates, that achieve variable stiffness through patching operations rather than through fibre steering.

The aim of my work is to contribute actively to more sustainable and climate neutral aviation and other forms of transportation.

Together with my husband I live in Rotterdam. In my spare time, I am an avid hobby pastry chef, and I have a strong interest in politics, (making) music, photography, film and movie editing.

I am always open to explore new possibilities to cooperate. In case my research subjects interest you, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
