Biography

Rūta Ubarevičienė is a researcher with a background in urban and regional geography as well as sociology. Rūta has successfully defended two PhD thesis in these fields. In 2017 the PhD degree was obtained from TU Delft and in 2018 – from Lithuanian Social Research Centre.

Currently Rūta is a researcher in the Urban Studies research group at the Department of Urbanism, TUD, at the Department of regional and urban studies, Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences, and at the Department of Geography, University of Tartu. R8ta is a member of the Young Academy of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.

Using spatial analysis and statistical techniques, Rūta analyses global and local spatial processes of the social and economic systems. Her research interests include socio-spatial inequalities, social segregation, depopulation, internal migration, and post-socialist change.

Currently Rūta is a postdoctoral researcher in the Urban Studies research group at the Department of Urbanism and at the Institute of Human Geography and Demography at the Lithuanian Social Research Centre. She has previously worked at the Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography (Germany) and Nature Research centre (Lithuania).

Rūta is interested in spatial inequalities, depopulation, internal migration and social segregation. She specializes in the use of spatial analysis and statistical techniques.

I am a researcher with a background in urban and regional geography as well as sociology. I have successfully defended 2 PhD thesis in these fields. My primary research interests are spatial inequalities, depopulation, internal migration and social segregation. I specialize in the use of spatial analysis and statistical techniques in my research. Presently, I hold research positions at the Urbanism Department / Delft University of Technology, at the Department of Geography / University of Tartu, and at the Department of Regional and Urban Studies / Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences.
