Biography

I graduated in Clinical & Health Psychology and Personality & Psychodiagnostics at the University of Leiden in 1995. In addition, I graduated in 2005 in Methods and Techniques of Psychological Research at Leiden University. In 2000, I obtained my PhD at Leiden University on the thesis: The impact of experience: Stability of preferences for actually experienced and hypothetical health states related to treatment for breast cancer.

Teaching experience

My expertise in the field of education lies primarily in teaching research skills and statistics. I am the module coordinator of BK4AC2 "Academic skills 2: Empirical research techniques for Architecture". I am also involved in the education of BK2AC1 "Academic skills 1: Architecture as a scientific discipline" and BK3MA1 "Society, process and practice 1: Planning and program". For the Graduate school I give the course: Discovering Statistics using SPSS.

Expertise

My research focuses in particular on housing preference and housing satisfaction. In addition, I am interested in other psychological aspects related to housing, such as the attachment to the home or living environment (place attachment), living quality, underlying values ​​that play a role (such as the need for freedom or privacy) and residential well-being.
