Projects

Saman's doctoral research, titled "Clubmania In-Between Revolutions: An Architectural [Hi]Story of Tehran’s Leisurescape, 1963-1979," explores clubmania and the clubs as architectural, socio-political, and urban assemblages. Through the lens of clubs, it aims to unravel the multilayered  relationship between buildings, people, and the city in post-World-War-II Tehran.
To deepen understanding of how clubmania impacted the city and people's lives, this doctoral research seeks to investigate how these clubs contributed to Tehran's rapid urban expansion. Additionally, it aims to explore how the emergence and growth of these clubs fostered and promoted the transformation of the socio-spatial landscape of the city between two revolutions: The Shah's White Revolution in 1963 and the Islamic revolution in 1979.
