3.5.1 Free electives

About

Free elective courses are courses outside the MSc TIL programme. The three participating faculties of CEG, TPM or 3mE may offer them, but also other faculties or other universities may have interesting elective MSc courses.

* We may (have to) link to a previous year if nothing changed or a change is pending. Links between web pages may break as well. Contact a local MSc programme coordinator and ask for a status update. Also inform us.
** Master courses from faculties not included in the table may also be chosen.

Rules regarding Free Electives

Choosing free elective courses is optional. The courses must be offered at master level and by Delft University of Technology or another Dutch university. They also require prior approval by the Programme Coordinator.

Article 5 of the Annex of the Teaching and Examination Regulations (TER) applies.

Internships

An internship project can be part of your free electives. You are free to choose a project for a company, consultancy or other university in The Netherlands or abroad. The project should of course have a sufficient academic content.

A MSc TIL student is free to choose an internship managed by CEG (CIE4040-09; welcome note) or another faculty, such as TPM (TPM593A).

You are free to contact lecturers to see if one is interested to supervise your internship project. You can contact dr. Jaap Vleugel if you want to discuss the content of a potential internship and a possible supervising lecturer. The Internship offices take care of all administrative matters.

Rules regarding internships

Prior approval by the TU Delft supervisor(s) and a TU Delft Internship office (which starts with acceptance of the required and completed form(s)) is mandatory. If you bypass our procedure and start without written approval, then your internship is not accepted nor do you receive the 10 EC. We will not 'reverse engineer' any request received during or after your not a priori accepted internship.

An overview of the process and the regulations and requirements can be found in the portal of the respective internship office.
