Criteria

Criteria for interim and definitive BSA

The TU Delft standard for the BSA is 45 ECTS from first-year courses. You will receive interim recommendations in March and early August. For both these interim recommendations, a number of criteria apply to all degree programmes (see below for an overview of criteria per recommendation date). The recommendation in March is based on the results obtained in the first semester. The recommendation in early August is based on the results obtained in the first and second semester.

If you have already obtained 45 or more ECTS by the beginning of August, you will then receive a definitive positive BSA so that you can re-enrol for the new academic year. If you have not yet obtained 45 ECTS, you will receive a proposed negative BSA.

The definitive BSA - which you will receive at the end of August - is based on the results obtained during the entire first academic year, including any resits in August.

In March the following applies:

  • BSA standard    ECTS obtained
  • Negative           Up to 15 ECTS
  • Doubtful            15 to 22.5 ECTS
  • Positive             22.5 or more ECTS

At the start of August the following applies:

  • BSA standard    ECTS obtained
  • Proposed          up to 45 ECTS
  • negative
  • Positive             45 or more ECTS

At the end of August the following applies:

  • BSA standard    ECTS obtained
  • Negative           Up to 45 ECTS
  • Positive             45 or more ECTS

Note: You will not receive interim recommendations if your request to postpone the BSA has been approved. You will receive the definitive BSA before 31 August of your second academic year.
