The University of Bologna (UNIBO) is considered to be the oldest university in the Western world. It is a multi-campus institution with sites across northern Italy. It is also known as one of the largest universities in Italy offering over 200 degree programmes. The university is like TU Delft also a partner in the PEGASUS network which is a European group of Aeronautics and Space Universities.

UNIBO has 5 campuses which are located in different cities around the city of Bologna. Each campus has their own international office which you can contact. You will be enrolled at campus Forli, but you are allowed to take courses from any of the campuses as well as relocate to a different one if needed. Our agreement is with the subject area of Engineering and Engineering trades, but you are free to choose courses from different degree programmes.

You always need to check whether you can combine courses from different campuses since for example Campus Forli and Campus Ravenna are both 1 hour away from Bologna by train. UNIBO offers English-taught programmes in the BSc and MSc, but the number of English-taught BSc programmes is limited. BSc students can take MSc level courses, as long as the course pre-requisites are met.

The University of Bologna runs Italian language courses for exchange students. Students coming to study in Bologna are strongly advised to have at least basic knowledge of the Italian language (level A2). It is possible for students to enrol in an intensive language course before the start of the programme.
For English taught courses the English Language Statement from TU Delft is sufficient.

The Student Accommodation and Information Service (SAIS) supports international exchange students in finding accommodation in the university halls of residence, colleges, short-stay accommodation or in private rented property.
This support also includes help with negotiating rental contracts. Start looking for housing in time.
The Università degli studi di Pisa is one of the oldest universities in the world and has twenty departments in the fields of Biology, Economics, Humanities, Law, Science and Medicine. Most buildings and facilities are located within 20 minutes from the historic centre.

Exchange students are allowed to enrol in all courses offered by the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering. The following MSc degrees at the department are taught in English: Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Materials and Nanotechnology and Technology and Production of Paper and Cardboard.
The majority of the courses need to be taken from this department, but upon request and subsequent approval, students can also get a maximum of 2 courses at other UNIPI departments, which needs to be approved by the relevant Erasmus Coordinator. For example within the Engineering area other English taught MSc degree programmes are Artificial Intelligence and data engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity and Bionics Engineering.
Undergraduate (BSc) exchange students are allowed to take graduate (MSc) courses if they have the pre-requisites for the courses. Make sure to check the semester the courses are given.
It is possible for exchange students to include one or more Italian language course(s) for 4 ECTS credits each. Please note, only the first course is free of charge.

Being ranked 17th of the world's best universities in Engineering in 2018, Politecnico di Milano is one of the most outstanding European universities in this field. It has six schools and seven campuses in the cities in the Milano region.

At Bovisa campus you can attend courses of Mechanical Engineering, Energetics, Aerospace Engineering and Management Engineering. Students can follow courses of both Bachelor and Master programmes, but the major part of courses should be the same as the student's level of study at TU Delft and from the same major (Aerospace Engineering). Information about courses can be found on their website.
Also, a maximum of 12 EC can be taken at another School than the main subject. The only courses not available for exchange students are Mechanical and Production (Politong). Almost all BSc programmes are in Italian, most MSc programmes are in English. The School of Civil Engineeing also offers BSc courses in English.
Politectico di Milano also offers Italian language courses that you can attend online.

The Università degli Studi di Roma, or Roma Tre, is a relatively new university and has twelve departments located in the Piramide/Ostiense area of Rome.

Roma Tre does not own student residences, but has signed an agreement with a housing company that provides assistance to students.
The Sapienza University of Rome, or La Sapienza, is the oldest and largest university in Rome. The curriculum focuses on technical studies, as well as Natural Sciences and Humanities. The faculties are located through the entire city of Rome.

50% of the ECTS must be taken at the Faculty of Engineering. Please note, the Sapienza University of Rome has in fact 2 different engineering faculties and selected students should choose their courses according to the receiving faculty, as specified in the nomination (generally the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering).
Note that the 50% is a strict requirement and more flexibility is not possible.Italian language courses are offered from B1 level.
The Sustainable Building Engineering bachelor programme is taught fully in English, the rest of the bachelor programmes are in Italian. There are many master programmes taught fully in English, as well as lots of English courses in various subjects such as Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Management, Energy Engineering and International Finance.
