Dr. N.M. (Natalia) Barbour
Profile
Dr. Natalia Barbour (she/her) is an assistant professor in the department of Technology, Policy and Management and holds a joined appointment in Transport & Logistic and Energy & Industry groups.
Natalia completed her PhD in civil engineering with focus on transportation at the University of South Florida (USF) under the supervision of Prof. Fred Mannering and Prof. Yu Zhang. Her dissertation incorporated statistical and econometric methods to study emerging transportation modes and user behaviour.
Dr. Barbour did her postdoctoral training at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning. She remains MIT research affiliate.
Research
Her research aims to combine social sciences and statistical and econometric modelling to study travel behavior relating to new mobility adoption, mode choice, and transportation and health. In her doctoral work titled “Statistical Analysis of the Role of Socio-Demographic and Health Factors in Shared Mobility Related Behaviours and Usage Likelihoods” she examined and identified groups more and less likely to participate in different modes shared mobility.
At TU Delft, Natalia continues to investigate efficient use of existing resources, sustainability, equity as well as exploring the relationship between transport and energy.
