A. (Alexia) Athanasopoulou


Alexia was born in Patras, Greece. She obtained BSc/MEng degrees from the department of Computer Engineering and Informatics (University of Patras), She continue her studies in University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK where she was awarded with MSc with Distinction in Information Management. Directly after she was accepted as a trainee in European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), Ispra, Italy. In april 2015 she started her PhD in the ICT section of the faculty of Technology Policy & Management. phd project is part of the ENviSION Horizon 2020 funded project. 


The aim of her PhD research is to design, develop and evaluate ICT enable tooling to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) on how to do Business Model Innovation (BMI) within mobility industry in order to capture value from Internet of Things and digital technologies.


The ENVISION project aims at activating small businesses to innovate their business models. In the current economic environment, business model innovation could accelerate the revenue growth of the small European companies. ENVISION gathers nine partners and their European wide networks to support business model innovation in 20 million European SMEs. ENVISION has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No 645791.
