F. (Farzam) Fanitabasi


I am a PhD candidate at the faculty of Technology, Policy and Management (TPM) of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). I obtained my M.Sc. in Information Technology Engineering from Sharif University of Technology (Iran) in 2015 and have been at TU Delft since May 2016. Currently, I am part of the TU Delft NervousNet team in collaboration with the team at ETH. I work under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Yao-Hua Tan as my promoter and Dr. Andre M. H. Teixeira as my daily supervisor from TU Delft and Prof. Dr. Dirk Helbing as my co-promoter from ETH.

My current project involves distributed data analysis in Internet of Things (IoT) using the concept of Fog Computing where I explore the role of network configuration as a variable in the performance of common machine learning algorithms. Also, I am really interested in the large scale monitoring and control of IoT infrastructures against security vulnerabilities and creating privacy-preserving solutions for data gathering / publishing and providing secure services within the same infrastructures. Most of my research is ongoing in the context of the NervousNet system, so this link might provide some more information as well.
