J.T. (James Tonny) Manalal
Profile
I am a PhD candidate at TPM faculty exploring the impact of using alternative sustainable raw materials in process industries. I have master’s in Energy & Environmental Engineering from KTH Royal Institute and bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from University of Kerala. Besides I also have professional experience in operations, design and commissioning of process industries.
Research
My research is part of the NWO project "Unravelling the impacts of using alternative raw materials in industrial clusters" led by prof Andrea Ramirez. My research work includes building a bottom-up model, selecting promising process routes and assessing the impact of new process routes in a petrochemical cluster. The process modelling & simulation software ‘ASPEN’ will be used to model and assess the impact of replacing fossil-fuel based raw materials with waste, biomass and CO2.
