Dr. A.R. (Andrea) Gammon

Profile

Andrea Gammon is Assistant Professor of Ethics & Philosophy of Technology at TU Delft, with a focus on engineering ethics education. She manages the section’s teaching portfolio and is the MSc Graduation Coordinator for EPT. She began teaching at TU Delft in 2018.

Andrea’s main philosophical background is in environmental philosophy. She’s interested in a range of environmental topics, and her research has focused on rewilding and interpretations of place and landscape (Ph.D., 2018) and philosophy of technology and ethics of climate engineering (M.A., 2013).

Research

Andrea’s current research addresses engineering ethics teaching, particularly efforts to diversify curriculum and teaching methods. Additionally, she continues two lines of research in environmental philosophy, focusing on (1) “nature-based solutions” for climate adaptation in cities and (2) service learning, or community engagement, in environmental ethics education.

Andrea is involved in various teaching activities in the EPT section and is responsible for the following courses:

  • Responsible Innovation (SPM9239)
  • Ethics in applied mathematics (WM1028AM)

Supervising:

Andrea supervises bachelor thesis projects in the bachelor end project. Current projects are underway on urban heat island effect in Den Haag and the accessibilty of public transportation during COVID-19. Andrea also supervises MSc projects on environmental topics and/or related to sustainability.
