X. (Xin) Ren
Xin Ren is a PhD candidate in the Safety and Security Science Group at the Faculty of Technology, Policy, and Management. She works on the project entitled “Modelling Human and Organizational Factors Influencing Structural Safety”.
After graduating her bachelor in “Construction Engineering and Management”, Xin worked as a quantity surveyor for a road and bridge construction company in Jinan, China. In 2013 Xin started her master with a focus on the safety issues during the construction process of subways in Beijing, she received her Master of Science degree in 2016.
Xin’s research focuses on understanding how human and organizational factors influence structural safety. By modelling human errors and organizational factors in the structural design and construction process, critical human and organizational risk factors can be spotted and then quantified. Furthermore, how these factors lead to structural failure will be revealed. This research aims at improving structural safety and reliability performance via properly handling critical risk factors from a social perspective.
