Dr.ir. P.W. (Petra) Heijnen
Profile
Petra Heijnen studied Applied Mathematics at Delft University of Technology. From 1994 to 1998 she did a four year PhD-research in coding theory at the faculty Applied Mathematics of Eindhoven University of Technology. In 1998 she worked as a research member at the National Institute Statistics Netherlands. Since 1999 she is working at the faculty Technology, Policy and Management of Delft University of Technology, first as a project member of the E.E.T.-project Batch Processes: Cleaner and more efficient.
Since 2002, she works at the faculty as an assistant professor in the Energy & Industry group. She teaches courses in Network analysis, Operations Research and Statistics. Her research field focusses on Graph theory for the design and analysis of energy and industrial networks, Optimisation in energy and industrial networks and Applied statistics.

NWO – Regional Energy Self-Sufficiency
The aim of this project is to support the realization of energy self-sufficient regions in the Netherlands. The integrated use of electricity, gas, heat and renewable sources will be studied. The goal is to develop tools for designing and determining the size and shape of such systems and their institutions.
CityZen – New Urban Energy
To develop and demonstrate energy efficient cities and to build a methodology and tools for cities, industries and citizens to reach the 20-20-20 targets.
NWO - Smart Energy Systems in the Built Environment
To accelerate the large-scale deployment of hardware and software technologies. And to enable the integration of solutions required to meet the challenge of smart and sustainable energy systems in the built environment.
