Dr. Ivan Ligardo-Herrera is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Energy and Industry (E&I) Group of the Engineering, System, and Services (ESS) department in the Faculty of Technology Policy and Management (TPM). He received his Ph.D. degree for his thesis "Design of a tool to calculate the carbon footprint of Research and Innovation Projects" at Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain). He was awarded his Bachelor in Industrial Management (Colombia) and a Master in Innovation Management (Colombia). He was guest researcher at The Business Management & Organisation (BMO) Chair group at Wageningen University & Research – WUR (The Netherlands). He has experience as a Lecturer and worked as Coordinator for Research and Innovation at the Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar (Colombia), developing activities in the realm of Research and Innovation Projects management and funding. His research interests are in the fields of Carbon footprint, global warming, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, Renewable energies, Energy transition, Environmental Sustainability, Decarbonisation, and Climate change.
Currently, his research main focus is on how to reduce embodied emissions in TU-Delft purchases, this project is led by Prof. dr. K. (Kornelis) Blok and is part of Delft University of Technology’s agenda to reduce its emissions and achieve CO2 neutrality by 2030. Every organization is not only causing greenhouse gas emissions through the use of fuels and electricity but also through the purchase of goods and services (so-called embodied or Scope 3 emissions).
Reducing embodied greenhouse gas emissions. Main objective: The aim of this project is to investigate how such emissions can be reduced substantially. Every organization is not only causing greenhouse gas emissions through the use of fuels and electricity but also through the purchase of goods and services (so-called embodied or Scope 3 emissions).
