The International Conference on Resilient Systems (ICRS) 2023 on 28-30 June 2023 in Mexico

From 28-30 June 2023, researchers from will gather at Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Mixcoac in Mexico City to present their research and ideas around this year’s conference theme: Resilience for a World in Distress. The ICRS 2023 theme foregrounds a diversity of cross-disciplinary perspectives on resilience for meeting the pressing challenges of today and tomorrow, encompassing infrastructure and system resilience, cyber-physical system resilience, environmental resilience, food system resilience, disaster resilience, social resilience, etc.

Adopting a resilience lens in flood risk management

An interdisciplinary group of experts from Deltares, TU Delft and other research institutes and universities argues in a new opinion paper that extra elements must be added to flood risk management in order to make better decisions and develop strategies which enhance resilience and equity. Their view was published on 18 November 2022 in Nature Communications Earth & Environment.

The Future Ground: Planning cities for an uncertain future

It is estimated that some 5.5 billion people will live in highly vulnerable climate regions by 2050. However, cities are grappling with ways to think and plan for a resilient future. To become resilient to extreme climate disruptions such as flooding and droughts, cities must transform long-term urban planning. With her advisors, Dr Nazli Aydin and Prof. Tina Comes, PhD candidate Supriya Krishnan is developing "The Future Ground": a methodology for long-term urban planning under climate change.
