I am an environmental engineer, with a background on flood early warning and response, and a passion for community support. This passion brought me into the field of information systems for community resilience. In my research, I study ways to manage information flows in a bottom-up fashion to support the self-organization and coordination of community groups and professional response organizations. More specifically, I study mechanisms for distributed information management that can provide the information needed to the actors who need it, when they need it. To this end, I make use of qualitative research and agent based models to explore the implications of alternative information management mechanisms in communities characterised by different levels of resilience.
