Research on urban mobility aims to achieve a seamless integration of current and future transport services for urban areas. Active modes (pedestrian and bike traffic) are a prominent part, and researchers put a lot of effort in getting and analysing empirical data from various sites in โ€˜normalโ€™ conditions as well as during special events that generate huge traffic flows (Sail Amsterdam, Kingsday).

Various large projects are conducted, including the ERC-Allegro project and a series of projects together with the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS).
