Climbing is a sport which challenges you to climb to the top using nothing but your own strength. Special climbing walls have been developed for this sport, on which you can complete various ‘routes’. These routes are marked with coloured handles and vary in difficulty. It goes without saying that muscle strength and endurance are vital for this fast-growing sport, but coordination and balance are just as important.

During the beginners course you learn the basic climbing and belaying techniques and get to know the fundamental principles of indoor top rope climbing. This is a style of climbing in which the climber is securely attached to a rope from the top of the wall. At the end of this course, you should be able to climb independently. An important part of this beginners course is learning how to climb safely. It is therefore extremely important that you attend the first lesson, because this is when you will learn how to secure yourself and your climbing partner. Indoor climbing is a two-person sport; you work together to ensure your safety.

The intermediate course focuses on climbing technique. This course is intended for those who have already completed the beginners course, those who have some climbing experience but haven’t done it for a while and experienced climbers who want to keep their skills up to scratch. It is important that you already know how to belay, as there will be no additional explanation about belaying. The lessons are designed so that you get the opportunity to develop, either on your own or in a group. With routes up to 7A, there is still plenty to learn about climbing after the beginners course.
