Lezing: Designing sponge cities - towards more nature system-based cities
19 november 2019 12:45 t/m 13:45 - Locatie: Faculteit Bouwkunde, Oostserre - Door: Communication BK
In his kick-off public lecture, visiting professor Florian Boer (De Urbanisten) will focus on the concept of sponge cities. Boer advocates a fundamental change in our approach to urban design and landscape architecture.
Themes such as climate change, mobility transitions, circularity and water issues have to become explicit points of departure in the different fields dealing with the urban environment. According to Florian Boer, cities should function as porous and flexible natural systems. They should be able to absorb, retain and return water in a way that can solve drought, flooding and heat stress problems. How can nature inspire us in dealing with these issues?
The public lecture will be followed by a series of seminars. More information on these events will follow soon.
